Kenyan Doctor Elected World Medical Association President

Dr. Jacqueline Kitulu, a prominent Kenyan physician and formerPresident of the Kenya Medical Association (KMA), has been elected as the President-elect of the World Medical Association (WMA) for the term 2025-26.

This groundbreaking achievement makes Kitulu the first female to hold the presidency in the 50-year history of KMA, further marking her as a trailblazer in the medical community.

The KMA celebrated this momentous occasion, urging Kenyans to join in congratulating Kitulu on her remarkable accomplishment.

“Join us in congratulating Dr. Jacqueline Kitulu, former KMA President and now the World Medical Association President-elect 2025-26. We are global,” the association stated in a post on X.

In addition to her role with KMA, Kitulu serves as the second deputy governor of the Kenya Red Cross Society and holds positions on various boards, including that of Mater Misericordiae Hospital and the Kenya Coordinating Mechanism for Global Funds.

With over 15 years of experience as a family physician, she is well-respected in her field.

An alumnus of Strathmore Business School with an MBA in Healthcare Management, Kitulu holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Nairobi.

The WMA, founded in 1947, encompasses 95 medical organizations worldwide, focusing on promoting cooperation between physicians and ensuring patient safety through the establishment of ethical standards in medical practice.
