Kenyan politician Oscar Sudi has warmed hearts across East Africa after pledging full educational sponsorship for 13-year-old Ugandan pool sensation Herbert Mukisa, famously known as Dynamite Kid.
Mukisa rose to fame during the Timba-XO International Pool Tournament, where his talent and grit impressed both fans and players alike.
Despite hailing from a humble background and often relying on small tournaments and menial jobs to raise school fees, Mukisa’s prowess on the pool table stood out — catching the attention of Sudi, who was moved by his story.
“Gladly met 13-year-old Herbert Mukisa, aka Dynamite Kid, from Uganda at the Timba-XO International Pool Carnival,” Sudi posted on social media. “I have committed to sponsoring his education going forward.”
Sudi has since enrolled the teen at Landmark Junior School in Zzana, Uganda, and gifted him a personal pool table, encouraging him to pursue both academics and his passion for the sport. “With his talent and determination, I’m confident he’ll excel in both the classroom and on the table,” Sudi said.
Photos shared online show the young star playing pool with the MP at Sudi’s nightclub, which features multiple pool tables and large screens. Mukisa appears both confident and focused, even as he enjoys the upscale setting — a stark contrast to his usual environment.
The gesture sparked a wave of support online, with Kenyans and Ugandans alike praising Sudi for his kindness, empathy, and commitment to youth empowerment.
Social media was flooded with comments lauding the MP for giving Mukisa a chance to dream beyond poverty. “This is the kind of leadership we want to see,” one user wrote.
Sudi’s support is expected to open new doors for the budding star, whose journey is now being followed with admiration across the region.
