A group of 27 police officers from the Kenya Police Service, Administration Police Service, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) returned home today.
They have successfully completing their tour of duty under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
The officers, led by Contingent Commander Mr. Dennis Wekesa, SSP, were welcomed at the National Police Service (NPS) headquarters, Jogoo House, by Mr. Mathew Kutoh, SAIG, Principal Assistant to the Inspector General of Police, who represented Inspector General Mr. Douglas Kanja.

Mr. Kutoh praised the officers for their dedication and discipline during the deployment, noting that no disciplinary incidents had been reported throughout their mission.
He described them as exemplary ambassadors for Kenya and encouraged them to use the experience and knowledge acquired in Somalia to improve service delivery and transform local police stations into centers of excellence.
“Your return marks not just the end of a successful mission, but the beginning of an opportunity to transfer those skills to your colleagues and communities,” Mr. Kutoh said.
Also present at the reception were Dr. Mwangi Wanderi, SAIG, Director of Human Capital Development; Mr. John Kamau, AIG, Director of Reforms; Madam Joyce Kanda, AIG, Deputy Director of Human Capital Development; and Mr. Albert Masese, CP, NPS Staff Officer for Peace Support Operations.
The officers’ successful deployment is seen as a strong contribution to regional stability and a testament to Kenya’s continued commitment to peacekeeping efforts in Africa.
