Kenya has recorded 15 more positive Coronavirus cases raiding the toll to 296. Out of the 15 cases, Mombasa took the largest share with 7 individuals testing positive, Nairobi 6 and Mandera 2.

While announcing today’s briefing, Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi alluded the riding numbers in Mombasa County to community transmission urging residents to take personal initiative to protect themselves from the virus.

“We are seeing an increase of cases in Mombasa County, pointing to community transmission. Citizens must take personal responsibility to contain this virus,” said Dr Mercy

The CAS pointed out that 9 of the new cases were picked by the surveillance team while 6 were from quarantine facilities.

The 15 emerged out of 545 samples tested ranging from the age of 19 to 75 years. Kenya has so far tested 14,417 people since the first case was reported.

5 more patients have also recovered from the disease bringing the total number of recoveries to 74.

Dr Mercy stated that the ministry is currently facing a shortage in swabs used in carrying out tests and thus the fewer samples taken.

Out of 2,851 follow up contact, 2,121 have been discharged while 730 are still being followed up.
