In a bid to empower Kenya’s youthful politicians, the European Business Institute of Luxembourg (EBU) has offered scholarships to the country’s Gen Z politicians.
The scholarship program, implemented through the Uamuzi Foundation, a Kenyan organization, will provide tuition-free civic education programs to equip young politicians with skills to drive positive change.
The partnership between EBU and Uamuzi Foundation will offer 5,000 scholarships for young Kenyans to study certificate courses in Artificial Intelligence and Business Management. Additionally, 1,000 scholarships will be awarded to legislators to undertake online capacity-building certificate courses in Leadership.
The President of EBU, Dr. James Muli, emphasized that the joint effort aims to empower the youth in Kenya who are actively holding their leaders accountable. “Our tuition-free civic education program focuses on youth empowerment, and we are committed to ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder access to education,” he said.
Elvis Sitati, Founder and CEO of Uamuzi Foundation, expressed his excitement about the partnership. “Today is a special day because we have signed an MOU with EBU, where they have offered us 5,000 scholarships to distribute to young people, which is fully funded, and also 1,000 scholarship courses for our legislators,” he said.
Sitati added that the platform will help engage young people with leaders and provide them with information about the courses. “We expect more meaningful engagement among the youth and leaders through these courses,” he said.
The registration for the scholarship program is currently underway and will close on August 1, 2024. The program is designed to inspire legislators and engage the youth, equipping them with the tools to lead effectively.
This initiative is a significant step towards empowering Kenya’s youthful politicians and promoting positive change in the country. By providing access to quality education, the EBU and Uamuzi Foundation are paving the way for a brighter future for Kenya’s young leaders.
