A quartet of Kenya’s top swimmers is set to represent the nation at the 22nd edition of the World Aquatics Championships, taking place in Singapore from July 26 to August 22, the first time the prestigious event is being hosted in Southeast Asia.

Leading the Kenyan charge is Sarah Mose, who heads to Singapore in exceptional form after clinching four gold medals at the 2025 Kenya Aquatics National Championships. She clocked an impressive 26.10 seconds in the 50m freestyle and 33.75 in the 50m breaststroke. Mose also proved her mettle with five final appearances at the XVI Africa Aquatic Championships earlier this year.

Joining her is Haniel Kudwoli, Kenya’s top-ranked swimmer in 2025. Kudwoli dominated the KA Nationals with three gold medals and set new national records, including 1:05.89 in the 100m breaststroke and a blazing 24.17 in the 50m freestyle. A consistent performer since 2019, she continues to be a formidable force at both national and continental levels.

Stephen Ndegwa of Bandari Swim Club adds valuable experience to the team. Known for his sprint prowess, Ndegwa topped the charts at the Nationals in the 50m butterfly (25.55) and 100m freestyle (53.83), and has a strong history in African junior competitions.

Rounding out the team is Imara Thorpe, currently competing in the U.S. collegiate circuit with Florida International University. Ranked 9th in her NCAA division with a national score of 743.00, Thorpe brings a wealth of international training and competition experience that strengthens Kenya’s global ambitions.

With the championships set to begin, Team Kenya is poised to make a splash and demonstrate the nation’s rising stature in competitive swimming. The young squad is determined to challenge the world’s elite and inspire a new generation of swimmers back home.
