Police in Belgut, Kericho County are investigating an incident where a 46-year-old man allegedly fatally stabbed his wife at home over a family dispute before driving to town with the body.
According to Belgut Sub-County Police Commander Charles Kibati, the man, a technician at a local tea company, allegedly stabbed his wife with a knife on Sunday night.
Kibati said the man had allegedly arrived home and shortly afterwards an argument broke out with the deceased, which later turned into a physical fight.
The woman is said to have taken out a knife and tried to stab her husband but he dodged, grabbed her and turned on her, stabbing her to death.
After killing her, he took her body, put it in the passenger seat, drove to the Kapsoit trading centre, parked his car and went to a nightclub.
However, revellers became suspicious after noticing blood stains on the man’s T-shirt and questioned him before demanding to be taken to where the vehicle had been parked.
Their fears were confirmed when they discovered the lifeless body of a woman, later identified as his wife.
The body was bleeding and had injuries to the head, mouth and eyes.
The incident was reported to Kapsoit Police Station where police officers rushed to the scene, arrested the man and took him to Sosiot Police Station where he was detained.
The body was removed and taken to Kericho County Referral Hospital mortuary while the vehicle was towed to Sosiot police station where he was being held.
