A police officer from Cheplanget police station in Bureti cub-county, Kericho county, is being investigated for allegedly defiling and impregnating a minor inside a police cell.
Her mother turned the 16-year-old girl in to police as a means of disciplining her after a disagreement.
The girl claims that on the second day of her detention, one of the officers on duty raped her.
Kipkorir Kirui, the girl’s uncle, expressed his dissatisfaction with how the investigations were being conducted, claiming that they were being kept in the dark.
According to Bureti sub-county OCPD Peter Isanda, the accused has been identified and DNA samples have been taken to Kisumu for testing.
He added that DCI is currently handling the case.
The incident is said to have happened on July 5, 2022.
