KeRRA Staffer Asks Court To Unfreeze His Dowry Money

The KeRRA accountant whose account with over Ksh 21 million was frozen by the Court after the EACC moved the High Court to freeze the money is seeking court orders to have the money released back to him.

Daniel Wambua told the court that the money in the account was contributed via M-pesa, and he attached what he brought forward as proof of the contributions–a WhatsApp group with about 900 members.

He asked the court to vacate the orders that had frozen the account so that he could pay dowry to his wife on Mashujaa day.

He also revealed that he is paid Ksh.170,000 per month, contradicting earlier claims by the EACC that he was paid Ksh.55,000 per month.

He also told the court that he has been running a fixed account for the last five years, which has amassed Ksh.5 million.

The court also heard that during a raid on his home, EACC detectives seized some documents as well as Ksh.700,000 in cash.

He claimed that the funds seized by the EACC were part of his future wife’s dowry.
