KFCB Adds Churchill, Jalang’o in Eric Omondi’s Mediation Committee

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has mentioned the mediation comittee that will decide the fate of controversial comedian Eric Omondi. – By Gerald Gekara.

According to the board CEO, Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, the committee was formed after Eric agreed to an out of court settlement after he was arrested for airing un-classified content.

“Following the appeal by Eric Omondi for an out of court settlement regarding the case against him for production of unauthorized content, thus contravening filming regulations as stipulated in the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap222 of the Laws of Kenya, the Board has set up a Mediation Committee.”

Comedian-cum business mogul Daniel Ndambuki aka Churchill and his radio counterpart Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o will sit at the table alongside the KFCB team and the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI).

Dr. Mutua praised the actions of Eric Omondi concerning the matter, saying it will provide a benchmark of handling such instances in the future.

“The Board will support this process to create the necessary balance between creativity and decency and protect children against premature exposure to adult content.” Dr. Mutua said in a statement.

Eric and his contestants were forced to part with a Ksh 50,000 police bond to secure their release.

He is scheduled to appear before court on Thursday 18th March to respond to the charges.

According to the KFCB, the Wife Material 2 show did not register for approval in line with the Films and Stage Plays Act Sec. 12(2) and 4(1).
