Kenyan youths will convene for the ‘Gen Sisi’ concert at Green Park Terminus in Nairobi on August 12, 2024, in honor of International Youth Day.

The event, organized by prominent Kenyan rapper Julius Owino, better known as Juliani, promises to be a landmark gathering aimed at showcasing the cultural diversity and creative initiatives of the nation’s young people.

With no entrance fee required, Juliani emphasizes that the true value of the event lies in the presence and participation of the youth.

“Entrance fee hakuna. Ni presence yako ndio muhimu. Kama youtman, to celebrate our cultural diversity and in support of youth initiatives, I will be at the Gen Sisi Concert,” he stated.

The concert is set to feature an impressive lineup of over thirty renowned Kenyan artists, including Mercy Masika, Khaligraph Jones, Arrow Boy, and Nadia Mukami. Classic favorites such as Nameless and Wahu will also grace the stage, ensuring a memorable experience filled with music, dance, and celebration.

The ‘Gen Sisi’ concert comes at a significant time, coinciding with International Youth Day—a global event celebrated annually to recognize the achievements and challenges facing young people worldwide.

This year, the occasion is particularly poignant for Kenyan youths, who have bravely protested against poor governance and economic hardships under the current regime, led by President William Ruto.

Tragically, while advocating for their rights, many youths have faced severe repercussions, with recent data from the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) reporting 39 fatalities and 361 injuries during anti-government demonstrations.

As the ‘Gen Sisi’ concert approaches, Juliani and other event organizers hope to turn the focus back to the positive contributions of youth in society.

“It’s a time to come together, celebrate our potential, and highlight the positive changes that can stem from our unity,” Juliani added.
