The County Government of Kiambu, in partnership with the national government, has commenced the construction of a Ksh 500 million County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) at Waruhiu Agricultural Training Centre in Githunguri Sub-County.
The park aims to boost marketing and value addition for fresh produce, such as fruits and vegetables.
Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, who officially launched the project, praised its progress, stating that it reflects Kiambu’s commitment to becoming a prime investment destination.
“Since its launch in May, the visible progress on the ground demonstrates our dedication to growth,” he said.
The national government has allocated Ksh 250 million for the project, with the remaining Ksh 250 million to be provided by the county government.
The 10-acre industrial park will serve as a hub for agricultural processing and manufacturing, linking farmers with industries and markets.
Governor Wamatangi emphasized the park’s potential to create jobs, boost exports, and strengthen the local economy.
Farmers will also benefit from expert-led training in advanced agricultural practices.
This initiative aligns with President William Ruto’s goal of spurring industrialization and enhancing the competitiveness of Kenya’s agriculture sector.
