Kiambu Deputy Speaker in Court For Soliciting A 130,000 Bribe


Kiambu County Assembly Deputy Speaker John Njue Njiru is scheduled to appear before the Thika Anti-Corruption Court for alleged bribery. 

According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Njue is accused of soliciting a bribe of Ksh.130,000 in order to ‘facilitate’ and allow the complainant to develop her Ksh.15 million plot in Thika Town. 

The deputy speaker, who is also the MCA for Hospital Ward, is accused of receiving a bribe in violation of the law. 

Njue was apprehended by EACC detectives on June 13, 2023. He has been out on police bail of Ksh.100,000.
