Kiambu: Five Arrested For Spiking Drinks

Five suspects were arrested over the weekend on suspicion of stupefying and stealing from a reveler at a popular club on Kiambu County’s Eastern Bypass.

The five, four of whom are women, are accused of adding a stupefying substance to their victim’s drink.

According to police, the arrest came after a two-week investigation. Detectives recovered eight mobile phones from the five suspects.

The victim told police that he went to the club to drink on September 15 at 8 p.m. and met a woman with whom he began dining.

Soon after, the lady invited three others, who joined them as they continued to drink.

“During the drinking spree, the complainant was drugged and lost consciousness only to find himself alone in his car the following day,” police said in a report filed at Ruiru police station via OB No.53/30/9/2022.

The victim informed the officers that he had lost Sh500,000 from his bank account, two mobile phones worth Sh90,000, and three ATM cards.

The five suspects were apprehended after an investigation, and police said they are expected to be charged.

Stupefying to commit a felony is a violation of Penal Code Section 230 and carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The investigation included a visit to the scene of the incident and a review of CCTV cameras.
