Kiambu county police have launched an investigation into the death of a 72-year-old woman who allegedly hung herself inside her home in Githurai, Mwihoko area.
Margret Gitahi was discovered dangling from the ceiling of her house by her brother-in-law John Njoroge at around 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, according to a police report.
Njoroge is said to have reported the incident to Mwihoko police station, prompting officers from the station, as well as a team from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Githurai, to visit the scene.
According to police, a suicide note was found in her house, indicating that she attempted to ingest poison but ended up hanging herself.
The body has been moved to the Kenyatta University mortuary for autopsy.
