Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa has been summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in connection with the chaos witnessed at a funeral in Limuru.
The incident, which occurred on November 28, involved former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was present at the event.
The senator has been asked to appear before the Nyeri Regional Criminal Investigations Officer on Friday, November 29, at 10:00 a.m.
The summons cites allegations of malicious damage to property and injuries to attendees at the Bibirioni Boys High School playground during the funeral.
In his response, Thang’wa dismissed the move as intimidation but confirmed he would honour the summons.
He further claimed the chaos was part of an assassination attempt targeting the former deputy president, raising concerns over escalating tensions in the region.
