Kibera Court Hands Death Sentence to Serial Rapist and Robber Luka Andove

The Kibera Law Courts has sentenced Luka Andove to death after convicting him of a string of violent crimes, including rape, robbery with violence, and attempted rape.

The court issued three death sentences and four life sentences in a landmark ruling that underscores the judiciary’s firm stance against violent sexual offences.

Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. Abdul, in a detailed judgment, found Mr. Andove guilty of seven charges: three counts of robbery with violence, three counts of rape, and one count of attempted rape.

The court commended the prosecution team — Ms. Kainga, Mr. Mutune, and Ms. Keitany — for proving the case beyond reasonable doubt.

According to court records, Andove targeted job seekers by posing as a Good Samaritan. He would lure victims with fake job offers, pick them up on his motorcycle, and then divert them to a secluded section of Ngong Forest. There, he assaulted and robbed them at knifepoint.

The crimes went undetected for a period until investigators noticed a disturbing pattern. A police sting operation finally led to Andove’s arrest as he attempted to rape and rob a fourth woman, again armed and using the same deceitful method.

“This court finds the accused’s actions deliberate, calculated, and inhumane,” Magistrate Abdul stated. “The repetitive nature of the crimes and the trauma inflicted on the victims call for the harshest penalty under the law.”

Andove will begin serving his death sentence immediately. The life sentences will remain suspended, as is standard procedure where capital punishment is imposed.

The case marks a significant win for victims of gender-based violence and signals a zero-tolerance approach toward sexual predators exploiting vulnerable members of society.
