A devastating fire broke out in the Mashimoni area of Kibra on the night of August 14, leaving several families homeless.

The incident, which occurred around 11:35 PM, prompted an immediate response from both the Kenya Red Cross and local authorities.

According to updates from the Kenya Red Cross, their Community-Based Disaster Response Team (CBDRT) was activated, and Nairobi City County fire services were dispatched to the scene.

“Incident Alert at 11:35 PM: A fire incident has been reported at Mashimoni, Kibra in Nairobi County,” the organization stated via social media.

Thanks to the swift action of community members, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), and the Nairobi County Fire and Emergency team, the fire was brought under control, preventing further destruction.

“The fire has been contained with the support of the Nairobi City County Fire and Emergency team, community members, and the Kenya Defence Forces. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the fire,” the Kenya Red Cross added.
