Kibra MP Peter Orero’s Driver Fined Sh100,000 for Ngong Road Obstruction

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has charged a Nairobi driver whose reckless overtaking was captured in a viral video circulating on social media.

The driver, identified as George Oduor, appeared before the Milimani Law Courts, where he was charged with dangerous overtaking contrary to Rule 73(4) as read with Rule 99 of the Traffic Rules under CAP 403, Laws of Kenya. Prosecuting Counsel Ismael Keragu told the court that the accused had dangerously overtaken a stream of vehicles along Oloitoktok Roadwithin Nairobi County on 9th of October 2025, at around 2:40 PM.

Following the circulation of the video, originally shared on social media by journalist Larry Madowo, police officers from Kilimani Police Stationlaunched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Detectives visited the scene and managed to retrieve CCTV footage from a nearby building, which corroborated the viral clip.

Further investigations led police to the registered owner of the vehicle, who disclosed that his personal driver was behind the wheel at the time of the incident. The driver was subsequently summoned and arrested. Appearing before Principal Magistrate Rose Ndobi, Oduor pleaded guiltyto the charges.

Upon conviction, the court sentenced him to pay a fine of Ksh 100,000 or, in default, serve five months in imprisonment. The case underscores the DPP’s continued commitment to promoting road safety and holding motorists accountable for reckless driving behavior that endangers the lives of other road users.
