Kenya Wildlife Services has delivered 10,000 meters of woodland Savanna fabric to Kitui County Textile Centre for the making of 3,000 sets of officer uniforms.

On behalf of HE Governor Charity Ngilu, the material from KWS was received at the state-of-the-art factory by County Executive Member for Trade, Cooperatives and Investments Ms Esther Kilonzi and Ag Chief Executive Officer Ms Georgina Musembi.

The county is hoping to improve its economy by generating revenue from local and national productions.

The profits from KICOTEC will be used to fund the County’s other programs, such as clean water, quality healthcare, and education.

The KICOTEC’s establishment has encouraged people to purchase local goods and, more importantly, help local businesses expand, especially SMEs, which account for a large portion of the county’s revenue.

Governor Ngilu’s initiative seeks to boost the county’s economy by encouraging the use of locally made products.
