Kikuyu Elders To DP Gachagua: Unite Wamatangi And MCA’s

The Kikuyu Council of Elders has implored Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to mediate and bridge the divide between Governor Kimani Wamatangi and the MCAs.

Over 37 MCAs announced their readiness to impeach Wamatangi due to concerns about his leadership style.

Allegations against the governor include micromanagement of the county and functioning without a substantive county secretary and chief officers.

The Council’s national chairman, Wachira Kiago, emphasized the importance of unity between the executive and the legislature for the betterment of Kiambu.

Kiago referred to Gachagua’s previous success in uniting Wamatangi and Kiambu MPs earlier in the year and urged him to repeat this effort with the governor and the county assembly members.

“Gachagua as the senior most politicians within Mount Kenya should summon Governor Wamatangi and MCAs and unite them the way he did with MPs a few months ago,” Wachira Kiago said.

Former Governor Ferdinand Waititu also stressed the need for cooperation between Wamatangi and the MCAs to foster community development.

“I don’t want to comment further about Kiambu as I don’t want issues, but what  I can say is that Wamatangi and members of the county assembly should work together in unity and love,” Waititu said.

Wamatangi responded to the impeachment threat, expressing determination to collaborate with those focused on improving the lives of Kiambu residents.

Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa warned that the charges against Wamatangi could lead to an impeachment motion, highlighting the necessity of a fully constituted government.

MCAs, such as Ruth Waithera and Majority Leader Macharia Wambui, emphasized the significance of proper oversight and development.

MPs Alice Ng’ang’a, Gabriel Kagombe, and Githua Wamacukuru raised concerns about Wamatangi’s performance.

Amidst claims of political conspiracy, Wamatangi reiterated his dedication to service delivery and denounced efforts to tarnish his reputation.
