Kilifi: Azimio and Kenya Kwanza leaders Clash Over Maandamano

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya and Kenya kwanza leaders clashed over the return of the mass demonstrations countrywide by the opposition in case Bipartisan talks fail.

Hell broke loose after Azimio leader and member of the Bipartisan committee Amina Mnyazi who is also the Malindi MP fired at the Kenya Kwanza government to accept opposition.

She said a government without opposition is not a government and asked the William Ruto-led government to tolerate the criticism adding that if things do not go the right direction demonstrations will resume.

“We are ready fo9r5 talks but if you are not going to hear our issues then demonstrations will be back,” she said
Mnyazi said even though they appreciate the government for bringing relief food the living standards are still very high.

She said the relief food will be consumed in three days and the locals will still go hungry as the cost of living was high and parents were struggling to survive.

“We as opposition MPs leave us to do our work, whenever you go wrong (Kenya Kwanza) we must criticize you,” she said.
The MP told Gender, Public Service and Affirmative Action CS Aisha Jumwa who was present to tell the President to sit down with Azimio Bipartisan committee so as to resolve the issues affecting the country.

“Those in government and us in the opposition must cooperate because the state of the nation requires dialogue to save the country,” she said.

She said apart from giving out relief food the Government needs to lower the price of flour, the costs of water to go down so that people can afford their lives.

Mnyazi said leaders should stop having strong stands as what was important was peace to prevail in the country and leaders to sit and resolve the issues.

The MP said the demonstrations in as far as Kenya Kwanza government say is not the solution shall be the only way to push the government to the right direction.

“Honorable CS you were on our side at one time and you also took part in demonstrations, Owen Baya (Kilifi North MP) you were also on the opposition and you know how things go,” she said.

Present during the distribution exercise was Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa, (Kenya Kwanza) Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro (Azimio) Kilifi North MP Owen Baya (Kenya Kwanza), and Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba.

Jumwa defended President Ruto’s government and asked the opposition to be honest with the cost-of-living debate as it is not the president who increased the price of flow.

She said those who contributed to the high costs of living and rise in the price of flour are former president Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga.
“Ruto is struggling to ensure the price of Unga goes down and those who contributed to the problem are demonstrating,” she said.

Jumwa said they will always speak the truth as seven months since President Ruto took office the price of flour has gone down from Sh. 240 to Sh. 180.
“Did they demonstrate when the price of flour was Sh. 240 so I would urge Kenyans to let what is for Caesar be given to Caesar and for God be given to God,” she said.

The Governor on his part told CS Jumwa that it is she who taught the leaders politics and now they have grown horns.

Baya who is the Deputy Majority leader of Parliament said as the Kenya Kwanza Government they were serving all Kenyans regardless of their political affiliations.
He said the Government was doing what it can to ensure the people get food adding that demonstrations will not lower the cost of the price of flour.
“Are these demonstrations going to lower the price of flour? The president himself is working hard to ensure the price of unga goes down,” he said.

Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba said she has heard Azimio has changed the name of the demonstrations to Public barazas and asked Kenyans to ask them to bring relief food during their meetings so as to help those people who cannot afford food.

“They should bring food and then ask you to go for demonstrations, In Kisii, I would like to inform you that it is rainy season and if people go for demonstrations we go to the farms so that the food is bought by the government to be dispatched to the demonstrators,” she said.
