Kilifi county has allocated a total of sh5 million for up scaling of youth friendly facilities within the county. – Peter Mwarandu.
Speaking at an interview with Uzalendo News, Kilifi County Youth and Reproductive Health coordinator Ken Miriti said the budgetary allocation will ensure full realization of youth friendly facilities.
“We have set aside sh5 million to ensure full realization of youth-friendly services. We however have insufficient staff to work in these facilities,” said Miriti
He further noted that the department is struggling with budgetary constraints on the same.
“We are battling with the shortage of staff to work in these facilities. Added Miriti.
Pwani Youth Network Executive director Alfred Sigo lauded efforts by the county government outlining plans to focus on rebuilding Youth centers, among other activities.
We are now seeing Kilifi county refurbishing some of the YFCs so that young people can access services. This is a good step ahead,” said Sigo.
