An association in Kilifi County has decided to donate land for the construction of a modern fire station.
The Kilifi Jua Kali Association through its chairman Samson Rimba agreed to donate the land along Kwa Mwango-Kiwandani road to the county government of Kilifi for the project to take off.
That follows the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Kilifi Municipality and the Kilifi Jua Kali Association (KJA) which is geared towards the construction of a modern fire station in Kilifi.
“We have agreed to donate part of the land located in Kilifi along Kwa Mwango – Kiwandani road following talks between both parties,” said Mr Rimba.
The signing was witnessed by Kilifi County Land, Energy, Housing and Urban Development executive Maureen Mwangovya, Housing and Urban Development Chief Officer Moses Gunda, and Trade Chief officer Mary Mkare.
Others who represented the Kilifi Municipality board included Dr Silas Chitibwi, Luvuno Chonga and the Municipal manager Elius Chipa.
Ms Mwangovya said once complete, the Municipality Fire station will provide sustainable firefighting infrastructure to timely respond to fire disasters and emergencies within the municipality and across the county.
