An organization advocating for the rights of the girl child and women empowerment in Kilifi has condemned the defilement of a ten-year-old girl by a 64-year-old man in Kilifi County.
Kilifi Mums CBO through its chairlady Kibibi Ali condemned the act and urged both the national and county government to address to its end the many and rising cases of defilement in the region.
“There is a viral video showing an old man aged 64 years old who was caught red-handed defiling a minor in Kikambala, Kilifi County. For us mothers, that video is disturbing and it shows how big the challenges of defilements are in the region. As an organization, we highly condemn the incident and call for quick action to address these injustices,” said Ms. Ali.
The organization has been advocating for an end to the women and girl child abuse and Ms Kibibi said that if the government will not act fast, then girls and women will continue to suffer.
“That was an outright abuse of human rights and a violation of the rights of the girl. It is sad and action must be taken to bring this to an end,” she said.
In the video which has gone viral since last week, the naked old man and the minor are seen confused after they were caught in the act with the old man confiding that she has been sleeping with the minor several times.
“It is true I have been having an affair with the girl,” confided the old man after he was questioned by police. The minor also said she had been frequenting the old man’s home for sex whenever she got an opportunity to do so,”
