Kindiki Flags Off Revival of Stalled Infrastructure Projects in Kitui

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has announced a sweeping plan to revive stalled infrastructure projects across Kenya, signaling a renewed push by the Kenya Kwanza administration to deliver on its promise of grassroots economic transformation.

Speaking in Kitui West Constituency during a development tour, Kindiki said the government has already allocated sufficient resources to fast-track the completion of abandoned road projects while also breaking ground on new ones to ease transport and unlock regional economies.

“In every corner of the country, projects that had been neglected or left unfinished are now being revived,” Kindiki declared.

“We have allocated resources to ensure all stalled roadworks are completed and new ones launched to enable the seamless movement of people and goods.”

In Kitui County, he revealed, six major roads are currently under construction. Among them is the 27-kilometre Kwa Siku–Migwani–Mbondoni Road, which is being built at a cost of KSh 3.5 billion.

The Kamuwongo–Kandwia section of the Mwingi–Tseikuru Road is underway at KSh 975 million, and the Zombe–Chuluni Road is also part of the ongoing works.

A key highlight of the tour was the Enziu Bridge project, which Kindiki confirmed will be completed this year at a cost of KSh 165 million. The bridge is expected to provide a critical link for thousands of residents who have previously faced deadly crossings during floods.

Beyond roads, the Deputy President announced that Kitui County has received KSh 2.1 billion under the Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Programme. Kitui West Constituency alone will benefit from KSh 200 million aimed at expanding access to power in underserved communities.

Kindiki also joined other leaders in supporting women-led businesses through SACCO initiatives, reinforcing the government’s bottom-up economic model. He used the platform to engage locals on the status of national programmes underway in the region.

The tour was attended by a host of leaders, including area MPs, county assembly representatives, and Livestock Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke, underscoring the government’s united front in implementing development promises.
