King Charles has shared encouraging news about his health, announcing in a personal video message that his cancer treatment can be scaled back in the new year following an early diagnosis and “effective intervention.”
“This milestone is both a personal blessing and a testimony to the remarkable advances that have been made in cancer care,” the King said in the recording, which was broadcast Friday evening on Channel 4 as part of the Stand Up To Cancer campaign.
The announcement marks the most significant update on his condition since he first revealed his diagnosis in February 2024. Buckingham Palace confirmed the King’s recovery has reached a “very positive stage” and that he has “responded exceptionally well to treatment.” While not in remission, his care will now shift into a “precautionary phase” with significantly reduced frequency.
“Today I am able to share with you the good news that thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to doctors’ orders, my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the new year,” he stated.
The King, who has not disclosed the specific type of cancer, emphasized the critical importance of early detection in his message, recorded two weeks ago at Clarence House. “I know from my own experience that a cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming. Yet I also know that early detection is the key that can transform treatment journeys,” he said. “Your life, or the life of someone you love, may depend upon it.”
The broadcast supported a fundraising initiative with Cancer Research UK, urging the public to participate in cancer screenings—a cause now personally championed by the monarch in his ongoing journey.
