King Charles made his first official visit to Southport on Tuesday, following the devastating knife attack that claimed the lives of three young girls.Â
The attack, which occurred during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class on Hart Street on July 29, resulted in the deaths of Bebe King, 6, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, 9.
Ten others were seriously injured, including yoga teacher Leanne Lucas, 35, who has since been readmitted to the hospital.
Arriving at Southport Town Hall around 13:30 BST, King Charles was met with cheers from the crowd.
The King viewed the tributes left outside the town hall and participated in a private meeting to hear the experiences of some of the young children who were attacked.
King Charles, who has been undergoing cancer treatment this year, previously expressed his profound shock at the “utterly horrific incident.”
During his visit, he met with frontline emergency staff, community members, and regional leaders, emphasizing unity in the wake of the tragedy.
Funerals for Alice da Silva Aguiar and Bebe King have been held, and multiple vigils have taken place.
King Charles is expected to meet with the three bereaved families in London on Wednesday.
