Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has stepped up his campaigns in Kilifi County.
With the elections around the corner, the governor is pushing for the election of PAA MCAs, MPs, Senator and Governor.
Mr Kingi is in his tours hitting hard on his former boss Raila Odinga and his ODM party in the grassroots with a view to shifting allegiance to his Pamoja African Alliance Party (PAA) and Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential flag bearer William Ruto.
Governor Kingi who is the PAA party leader together with his entourage is going round the 35 wards meeting over 1000 opinion leaders in each ward who are influential and supporting him to seek their support so as to deliver the votes for his party and for Ruto’s presidential bid on August 9.
The former ODM Die hard who deliver nearly 100 per cent in the 2017 general election is rallying for five-piece for PAA from MCA, MPs, Woman Rep, Senator, and Governor, and one presidential vote for Raila.
The Onslaught dubbed ‘Zika ODM’ Zika Raila’ which can loosely be translated to ‘burry ODM and Burry Raila or do not support Raila’ seeks to use the 1000 opinion leaders to deliver at least six votes each in all 35 wards.
this means if every opinion leader delivers a minimum of six votes he will be assured of getting 210,000 votes leave alone the political supporters and die-hards who will vote for him and those that will come in handy with the candidates and campaign teams also on the ground.
On the first day, the Governor was in Adu ward and Gongoni ward where he held a series of meetings with the opinion leaders with each meeting represented by 1000 leaders.
“There is no one in Kilifi who loved ODM like me in Kilifi, np one sold Raila Odinga more than me but today I want to tell you that the tactic has changed and there are reasons, today I did not come here to sell ODM but to burry ODM,’ he said.
Speaking in Marereni and Gongoni Mr Kingi said any election is a matter of the benefits one gets that’s why people go out in large numbers with a purpose.
he said the reason he no longer supports ODM is that there is no purpose or anything for Marereni, Kilifi or Coast region at large.
In 2017 he said Kilifi county delivered many votes even more than Nyanza and expected even to get many nominated MCAs but surprisingly ODM gave out the seats to people from other regions.
Further, he said after the handshake Raila shifted his development agendas to his area and never considered pushing for the development of top government appointments for the region to his region.
he said to make matters worse when PAA party sought to sign an agreement with Raila he refused making them believe he does not have any agenda for the people if he does not wants to commit himself in writing.
Governor Kingi told the residents of Kilifi and Coast at large to Vote for Dr Ruto as the Presidential candidate and five-piece for PAA from Governor to MCAs.
The Governor was accompanied by PAA spokesman Lucas Maitha , Nominated Senator Christine Zawadi, Magarini MP Michael Kingi, Gongoni MCA Albert Kiraga.
Another issue that the PAA party does not support Raila is the fact that Raila failed to protect the relocation of Port operations from Mombasa to Nairobi and Naivasha despite having a big say in the handshake government.
Maitha said he was there when Kingi consulted him to enter an agreement with PAA but he refused to say when elected he would just deliver to the region without necessarily doing it in writing.
The former Malindi MP said other regions joined Raila’s coalition with their own parties and signed agreements including Jubilee Party, Wiper Party And the other political parties but surprisingly, the ODM party leader rejected to sign an agreement.
he said the Coast region must reject Raila because he has no good will for the people.
Nominated senator Christine Zawadi on her part said she got the position through the Jubilee party and was there when the port services were relocated but could not do anything together with the other legislators from Coast because they have no say in the parties they belong to.
Zawadi who is eyeing the Kilifi Woman Rep position said it’s time Kilifi county residents supported their own party so as to have leaders who will push for their agenda instead of leaning to parties that control them against the will of their people.
“When the port was going you think we were not there, do you think we did not like it, we are over 38 but because we have no voice there was nothing we could do, ” he said.
Magarini MP Michael Kingi on his part said it’s time for any coalition that wants to get support from the Coast region to come through Governor Kingi the same way in Ukambani they have to go through Kalonzo, in Rift Valley it’s Ruto together with Raila in Nyanza and Uhuru in Central.
he said they came up with PAA so as to ensure the region’s interests are pushed through the party as opposed to the previous situation when they were in other parties.
