Kinoti Succession: Interviews Slated For Tuesday

Interviews for the position of Director General of Criminal Investigations will be held on Tuesday by the National Police Service Commission.

The names of ten senior officers who made it to the final shortlist were made public in a communique issued by the Commission, as the race to find the country’s next top detective heats up.

The shortlist includes senior seasoned CIDs and forensic experts who have risen through the ranks and served the country in a variety of capacities in the security sector.

Top among them is the former Nairobi regional DCI Chief, Mr. Ireri Kamwende, who is the current Director of planning at DCI headquarters.

Mr. Eliud Lagat, the current Director of Reforms at DCI headquarters, is also on the shortlist. 

He is an explosives and post-blast expert who previously led the forensic bomb disposal unit. 

He also attended Kenya’s prestigious National Defense College.

Dr. Mwangi Wanderi, the current commander of DCI Railways, has also been named to the list.

Among the candidates is Mr. Munga Nyale, Director of the DCI’s Anti-Terrorism Police Unit.

According to the Commission, which oversees the National Police Service’s human resource management function, a total of 253 applications for the position were received.

Mr. George Kinoti resigned and was transferred to the Public Service Commission, leaving the position vacant.
