Kirinyaga: Missing Woman Found Murdered in Boyfriend’s House

A community in Mukangu village, Kirinyaga County, is in shock following the gruesome discovery of 25-year-old Sella Wangithi’s lifeless body, which was found dumped in her boyfriend’s compound.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Wangithi may have been raped before being brutally hacked to death. Her body was covered with banana leaves, raising concerns about the circumstances surrounding her death.

Wangithi, who had been reported missing by her relatives on Sunday, was last seen after being called by her boyfriend. Concerned family members and local residents launched a search, leading to the discovery of her body on Wednesday afternoon.

“We looked for her everywhere, and we demand justice for our daughter,” said her aunt, Esther Murugi.

The family suspects that the murder may stem from a love triangle, as Wangithi had recently separated from her husband and was living with her aunt. Police have arrested her boyfriend as the prime suspect and are investigating allegations of sexual assault connected to the crime.

Kirinyaga West Sub-County Police Commander Moses Koskei confirmed that evidence, including a piece of clothing believed to belong to Wangithi, was found at the scene, suggesting possible sexual abuse.

The case is being treated as a homicide, and the boyfriend is expected to be arraigned soon as investigations continue.

The body has been transferred to the Karatina Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. The community and her family are left grappling with the tragic loss and seeking answers in the quest for justice.
