A police investigation has been begun in Kirinyaga county to determine the cause of death of a senior police officer.
The officer was assigned to Mwea East’s Wang’uru police station.
Julius Mwangi Ndung’u, 56, the station’s OCS, fell and died on Saturday morning, according to Kirinyaga county police chief Bernard Korir.
Junior police officers, on the other hand, discovered his death in the afternoon.
The police and his colleagues sensed something was wrong when they didn’t show up for several hours and decided to smash the door down to obtain entrance.
They discovered Ndung’u’s body on the floor, unharmed.
The body was taken to the mortuary at Mwea Mission Hospital.
