Kirinyaga: Police rescue 14-month-old baby after being stolen by relative

Police in Kirinyaga County have successfully located a 14-month-old child who went missing last week in the Kingombe area, after allegedly being taken by a family member.

Following a thorough investigation, local law enforcement tracked down the primary suspect, who was apprehended in the nearby Kimbi area and brought to Kutus Police Station for questioning.

The incident began when the child’s mother, Mary Njoki, left her baby in the care of her nephew while she went to Kiangothe Town for a shave.

Upon returning, she found her child missing and immediately alerted family members.

The family reported the disappearance to the Kutus Police Station, initiating a search for the child.

The investigation, which involved local police and community members, led to the recovery of the child at the suspect’s hideout, where she was found unharmed.

Authorities confirmed that the child was in good health and was safely returned to her parents.

In a surprising twist, the family decided to forgive the suspect, who is also a relative, and resolve the matter privately.

They chose not to pursue further legal action, with police confirming that the family had come to an amicable resolution.

The authorities have expressed satisfaction with the peaceful resolution of the case, noting that the child’s safety and well-being were the top priorities.
