A watchman at St Francis Waigiri Day Secondary School in Kirinyaga County succumbed to injuries after being attacked by thugs.
The 60-year Peterson Karimi was on the night shift when the thugs struck at around 3 a.m.
According to Kirinyaga Central sub-county Police commander Stephen Mutua, the thugs stole two computers and Sh 27,000.
“These people broke into the school administration block and stole two computers and a printer, plus some Ksh 27,000 was found missing from the cash box,” said Mutua.
“They killed the watchman using a sharp object, then proceeded to tie both his hands and legs with sisal rope, and stuffed clothes in his mouth,” he added.
The thugs dragged the watchman into the kitchen after tying his hands and stuffing a piece of cloth in his mouth. They then broke the administration and got away with the property.
Detectives from Kerugoya police station have launched investigations into the incident.
The deceased’s body was taken to the Kerugoya hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
