A Ugandan national has been detained for allegedly killing his employer in Kombo-ini village, Kirinyaga County.
According to Kirinyaga County Investigation Officer Jason Mworia, police had been seeking for him since November 3, 2023, when he was accused of murdering a 64-year-old woman who employed him as a Shamba Boy.
According to Mworia, officers nabbed Phillipino Muifi in Nakuru after a months-long pursuit.
Muifi is being held at Kiamaciri police station in the Mwea-West sub-county and is expected to be taken to court and charged with murder after hiding for more than seven months. Police believe he fled with the deceased’s phone, which was discovered at his aunt’s house in Nairobi.
According to Mworia, police apprehended the suspect’s aunt, who promised to help them find Muifi.
“After taking her to court we were allowed to hold her as we went on with investigation and she was able to convince him to come back to Kenya promising him a job where he was nabbed at Nakuru,” Mworia said.
The Ugandan farm worker is accused of killing his boss Rose Muthoni Kariuki where her body was discovered by her neighbour who immediately informed the authorities.
Police are still holding the suspect’s aunt who might be a state witness.
