Prof. George Magoha, Cabinet Secretary for Education, condemned the Saturday fire that destroyed boarding facilities at Kisumu Boys High School.
While speaking to the press, Magoha stated that all parents would be held responsible for the incident, which occurred two days after schools reopened for the second term.
“If you are mad, why don’t you start by burning the house of your father? We don’t play such games. The parents will rebuild and that’s how it is, pure and simple,” Magoha said.
The CS issued a warning to individuals responsible for the frivolous attempts to interrupt their school schedule, assuring them that the school would not be closed.
Magoha also stated that the pupils would take the exams as scheduled.
250 students were affected by the early morning blaze. Police and firefighters had to collaborate to put out the fire.
Investigations are ongoing as to what caused the fire.
