Authorities in Kisumu County are actively searching for a man accused of launching a violent attack on his former girlfriend after tracking her down to her new residence.
The suspect, Sebi Obonyo, reportedly could not come to terms with the end of their relationship and became enraged upon learning that the 24-year-old woman had moved on with another partner. Driven by jealousy, Obonyo followed her to Nyakbong’ village in Kamjulum, Kisumu East, where she had settled with her new boyfriend.
Police say the confrontation took a violent turn around 4:45 p.m. on Friday, April 18, when Obonyo allegedly stormed the couple’s home and stabbed the woman in the chest and left ear using a sharp object. She screamed for help as the attacker appeared determined to kill her.
Her cries were heard by neighbors who rushed to her rescue, forcing the suspect to flee. The victim, who was left bleeding heavily, was immediately taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for urgent treatment.
Local authorities have confirmed that the suspect is still at large, and a manhunt has been launched to bring him to justice.
