Kisumu Signs Deal With Rabat To Promote Health And Education

The Regional Council of Rabat-Sale Kenitra, Morocco has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the County Government of Kisumu to promote provision of health and education.

The deal will see the two regions enhance technology and knowledge in the two sectors.

Supported by the Kingdom of Morocco and the Government of Kenya, the deal targets to scale up preventive and curative healthcare with the two regions set to exchange surgeons and other medical personnel.

The Regional Council of Rabat has also availed scholarships worth 15,400 Euros for Kisumu students to study Executive Masters Degrees in Morocco.

Regional Council of Rabat President His Excellency Rachid El Abdi who signed the deal in Kisumu with Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o said the initiative targets to benefit the population of the two regions.

His government, he added, has set up a meeting with Kisumu County officials to be held in Rabat in September to explore other areas of collaboration.

The meeting, he added targets to explore how the two regions can collaborate in agriculture, tourism, business and economic development.

Africa, he said has a lot of potential calling for integration of territorial communes for greater collaboration and shared prosperity.

Kisumu Governor Prof. Nyong’o lauded the initiative saying it will go a long way in building capacity in the areas of collaboration.

The move, he added was critical in the advancement of Pan African relations adding that the economic and cultural cooperation between the two regions was welcome.

A committee, he said has been established to oversee the implementation of the MOU.
