Kisumu: Two Guards Killed, Shops Vandalized During Night Raid

Two security guards manning businesses behind Telkom Plaza in Kisumu CBD were killed by thugs who raided the premises on Saturday night and stole goods worth an unknown amount.

Kisumu Central Sub-County Deputy Police Commander Jackton Mango confirmed the incident, saying the guards were hit on the heads with a blunt object, killing them on the spot as the thugs broke into three electronic shops.

“It seems like they were attacked when they were asleep because they were found sitting on their chairs,” said Mango.

Meanwhile, the bodies have been moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) mortuary.

Mango has also assured local residents that security patrols will be increased “to ensure that people in Kisumu conduct their businesses in peace.”

Since then, the area has been processed, and officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have taken over the case for further investigation.
