Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe today held a meeting with top officials from the Ministry of Defence, led by the Principal Secretary Dr. Patrick Mariru at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.
The meeting was convened to apprise the Governor and the Principal Secretary on the progress and plans for the Late Nzamba Kitonga Memorial Hospital, which is set to be constructed in Mutitu, Kitui East Subcounty.
The parties agreed to settle on a date next week for the site handover ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for later this month.
Earlier, during a visit to Kitui, President William Ruto pledged to ensure the project is completed to improve healthcare services in the region.
The project was first proposed by Governor Malombe when he assumed office in 2022.
