The late Fr. Robert Kalima, who passed away on 30th July 2025 while receiving treatment at Mater Hospital, will be laid to rest on 8th August 2025.
In a statement by the Catholic Diocese of Kitui, the burial Mass, expected to be presided over by Rt. Rev. Joseph Mwongela, will take place at St. Patrick’s Mutune Parish grounds, followed by burial rites and interment at St. Patrick’s Mutune Cemetery.
The Diocese also issued a program on a requiem Mass which will be celebrated, followed by vigil Masses on 7th August 2025.
“Fr. Robert Kalima will be fondly remembered for his humility, kindness, simplicity, and readiness to serve others. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the statement read in part.
Fr. Kalima died while receiving treatment at Mater Hospital in Nairobi.
Until his demise, Fr. Robert Kalima was serving as the Parish Priest of St. Jude, Mbitini Parish and hailed from Mutomo Parish.
Fr. Kalima ministered in numerous parishes across the Diocese of Kitui, including Kabati, Kimangao, Boma, Mutune, Miambani, and Nguutani among others.
He also served as the Diocesan Vocations Director and a formator at both St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary and St. Matthias Mulumba Major Seminary, Tindinyo.
Fr. Kalima is remembered as a committed shepherd, a dedicated mentor, and a humble servant of the Gospel whose life touched many within and beyond the Diocese.
