Kitui Top Lawyer Morris Kimuli Appointed To Select IEBC Commissioners

President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Law Society of Kenya representative Morris Kimuli to the IEBC Selection Panel. – By Caleb Mwikya.

The president at the same time revoked the appointment of Dorothy Jemator to the position and designated one of kitui top Lawyers Mr morris kimuli to the position.

Morris Kimuli took an oath of office today to represent the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) on a panel that will choose four nominees for the position of Commissioners at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Speaking at the Supreme Court on Friday at the swearing in event, which was also attended by the President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), Nelson Havi, and other LSK delegates, Chief Justice Martha Koome urged the selection panel to be guided by Constitutional ideals throughout the interviews.

“This Selection Panel has the responsibility of picking nominee Commissioners for IEBC. Elections are central in this country and we pray that you will be guided by nothing else other than the Constitution’’ – CJ Martha Koome said.

Kimuli now joins the selection as the seventh member of the panel a month after it was constituted to fill the four vacant IEBC Commissioners’ positions.
