In an effort to reduce unemployment in the nation, the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) has unveiled a five-year strategic plan that centres on implementing the Recognition of Prior Learning Policy (RPL).
The strategy intends to take advantage of KNQA’s advantages, seize chances, and meet obstacles head-on with tenacity and agility.
The creation of the National Qualifications Database, national policies and research on national qualifications, accreditation of institutions that grant qualifications, learner mobility and advancement, and institutional strengthening through capacity development are important areas of concentration.
The skills gap; there is a mismatch between the youth’s skills and what the industry seeks, the plan seeks to address the nation’s unemployability and skills mismatch.
The strategy will aid in achieving the goals outlined in the Kenya Vision 2030, the government’s agenda, the United Nations Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, the East Africa Community Vision 2050, and the African Union Agenda 2063.
