Kanyenyaini Ward MCA Grace Nduta Wairimu is at the centre of an alleged stage-managed abduction involving Juja MP George Koimburi.
According to a statement signed by DCI spokesperson John Marete, Grace Nduta—popularly known as “City”—was taken into custody as part of an active investigation into the purported kidnapping of MP Koimburi.
The DCI dismissed Nduta’s alibi, stating that although she claimed to have spent the night of May 25 at church and political rallies in Kangema, surveillance and phone data place her at the Ellis Bar and Restaurant in Kiganjo, Gatundu South, in the company of Koimburi.
The arrest comes amid swirling social media reports that the MCA had been “abducted” herself—claims that were quickly amplified by Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata, who suggested that Nduta may have been whisked away by unknown persons and possibly held at the Samuru Police Post. However, the DCI has refuted the abduction theory, insisting the arrest followed legal procedure and was tied directly to the investigation.
Sources close to Nduta claim she received a phone call from an unknown man seeking a meeting over “official matters,” only to be taken into custody upon arrival. Her driver recounted the moments before the incident, stating that after dropping her off, he noticed a suspicious vehicle and alerted her, only to later learn she had been taken by three individuals.
The case has triggered political tremors, especially given Nduta’s close links to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. She had been seen alongside the DP just days ago during a church function in Murang’a, fueling speculation that the arrest may be politically motivated.
Meanwhile, the Koimburi saga continues to attract scrutiny. The MP, who was allegedly missing over the weekend, was found unharmed at a coffee plantation in Kiambu County.
Government officials now say there was no real kidnapping, pointing instead to a carefully staged disappearance.
