Koinange Daughter Loses Multi-Million Property Row

Lennah Catherine Koinange, the daughter of Mbiyu Koinange, a Kenyatta-era minister, has lost her attempt to claim a seven-acre plot of land near Muthangari police station, the status of which has been challenged for years in various Courts.

The Environment and Land Court’s Justice Oscar Angote halted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and any recommendations to the Ministry of Lands about the title document held by Nairobi House Ltd.

“In conclusion, the court is convinced that the investigations that resulted in the recommendations outlined in the letter of July 20, 2020, were tainted by irrationality and procedural misconduct,” the court stated.

Nairobi House Ltd (NHL), through its director Javed Iqbal Abdulrahman, stated that the new investigation was without merit because his title was verified in 2006 and deemed to be authentic.

According to Abdulrahman’s lawyer, Philip Nyachoti, he has been paying land rent to the Ministry of Lands as well as rates to Nairobi City County.

According to the lawyer, Lennah Koinange trespassed onto the site in December 2016 with plans to partition the piece and erect a fence to block his client from accessing the land.

Lennah Koinange claims the seven-acre plot belonged to her late father, Kenyatta-era minister Mbiyu Koinange.

The Koinange heir claims the land belonged to her late father and was given to the government in exchange for contributing another piece in Banana Hills, Kiambu, for office building.
