President William Ruto on Tuesday, October 11, appointed Felix Koskei, a former cabinet secretary for agriculture, as his chief of staff to succeed Nzioka Waita who resigned early this year to focus on the Machakos Governorship which he lost to Wavinya Ndeti.
Koskei will be tasked with working behind the scenes to solve problems, mediate disputes, and deal with issues before they are brought to the President.
He left the cabinet under a cloud of suspicion after a list tabled in Parliament named him among other five cabinet secretaries as corrupt public servants.
The list tabled by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta in March 2015 alleged that Koskei was issuing permits under the table to some importers to bring in sugar without going through open tendering, which is against procurement laws and Comesa rules.
The other three included Davis Chirchir, former Transport CS Michael Kamau and former Labour CS Kazungu Kambi.
