Man Stares At Jail term Over Illegal Power Connection

Man charged with fraudulent consumption of electricity which was not ascertained by meter or any other apparatus as per the Kenya power regulations.

John Kiarie was arraigned in court with charges of unauthorized ejection of electrical cable contrary to the Energy Act.

According to the court documents, the accused is said to have erected an electricity cable and connected it to his house directly without the consent of Kenya Power and lighting company.

He was also charged with resisting arrest, where on August 26, 2022, at Kasarani sub-county, resisted being arrested by police acting in the due execution of their duties.

Further, he was charged with carrying out an electrical undertaking without a license and he was arrested for installing electrical cables without the consent of the Kenya Power and Lighting Company.
He denied particulars of the offences and was released on a Bond of Ksh 200,000.
