Two KRA officials were charged with aiding and abetting illegal vacation of assessment for a tax obligation of Ksh 9.9 million.
Dickens Otura Olwala and Jackline Moraa Nyabuto were arraigned before Magistrate Wandia Nyamu at Milimani Law Courts where they faced six counts of Law violations.
Dickens Otura Olwala was charged separately that between October 2021 and June 2022, in Nairobi, masquerading as an of the Authority, aided in the illegal vacation of Ksh 9.9 million tax obligation making KRA to suffer loss.
Jackline Moraa Nyabuto on the other hand was charged that on diverse dates between October 2021 and June 2022, acted in breach of her duty under tax law by facilitating vacation of assessments raised in the system by the commissioner domestic taxes for a tax obligation of Ksh 80.9 million raised for various companies.
Dickens Otura Olwala was also charged with causing a system to perform a function by infringing security measures with intent to gain access hence vacating tax assessments amounting to Ksh 9.9 million from KRA.
He was also charged with acquiring and using money which was proceeds of crime he had committed.
The two accused persons have so far denied particulars of the charges and are out of cash bail of Ksh 250,000 and Ksh 100,000 respectively.
