The Eastern Bypass in Ruiru will be closed on Sunday, February 26 between Green Spots Gardens and the Thika Road junction.
The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) announced the planned closure on Saturday, February 25, citing ongoing Highway construction.
The disruption will last from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the authority.
“Traffic disruption along the Eastern Bypass tomorrow, Sunday, February 26, 2023, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Green spot gardens-Thika road junction”),” the statement said.
Inbound traffic approaching Thika Road from Green Spot Gardens will be diverted to the dual carriageway’s outbound lane.
KURA also urged drivers to use caution while driving through the detoured route to avoid gridlock.
The announcement came just days after a similar one informing motorists of impending delays on the same highway along the opposite lane.
In order to improve mobility along the highway connecting Thika Road to Mombasa Road, KURA embarked on a Ksh12.5 billion project to dual the Bypass in 2021. The majority of the dualling work was completed by the end of 2022, with only a few touch-ups remaining.
KURA informed the public on Saturday, February 25, that the disruptions were planned to allow the contractor to finish the final dressing of the road.
