Kwale Gears Up for Mashujaa Day Celebrations as Stadium Takes Shape

Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani and Deputy Governor Chirema Kombo welcomed a delegation from the National Steering Committee on Mashujaa Day celebrations today.

The committee, led by Permanent Secretaries from various ministries, visited Kwale County Stadium in Matuga Sub-county to assess preparations for the upcoming national event.

The delegation included Dr. Raymond Omollo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, alongside P.S. Teresia Mbaika from the State Department for Devolution, Joel Arumonyang from the State Department for Public Works, and Mohammed Daghar from the State Department for Transport.

Their purpose was to evaluate the progress of works being carried out for the celebrations scheduled to take place at the stadium.

Speaking at the site, Dr. Omollo praised Kwale County for its dedication to ensuring a successful Mashujaa Day.

“The preparations are well on track, with 70% completion of construction works,” he stated, expressing confidence in the county’s ability to host the event.

He also noted that President William Ruto, who recently launched the Affordable Housing Project in Kwale, is expected to attend, providing an opportunity to showcase the project amid the festivities.

Governor Achani expressed her heartfelt appreciation to President Ruto for choosing Kwale as the host for the national celebration, promising that the event will be memorable.

“We assure him and the nation that Kwale will deliver an event that will be remembered in history,” she affirmed.

The governor extended an invitation to leaders, dignitaries, and tourists to join the celebrations and explore Kwale’s rich culture, cuisine, and investment opportunities.

She highlighted that the event would enhance transportation infrastructure, boost local businesses, and promote tourism—contributing significantly to the county’s economy.
